There are seven things Dr. Chu is passionate about….
Dr. Warrington is a native of England and hold dual British and U.S. citizenship having lived in the United States for over twenty years during which time he has gained considerable experience working with young people in colleges and high schools as well as an adult population. he has a Master’s and Doctoral degree in clinical psychology as well as degrees in Divinity and English Literature.
His areas of specialty include anxiety and mood disorder (including bipolar disorder), addiction and substance abuse, therapy with teens and adolescents, working with the gender and sexual identity and issues involving spiritual and religious matters, especially religious trauma.
It is essential that you have a good fit with your therapist. If, when you call, you think he might be right for you he offers you a free face-to-face consultation for you to get a feel for how you might work together. If it is not a good fit he will try to refer you to someone with whom you feel more comfortable and who might meet your needs more perfectly.
There are many different approaches to psychotherapy. Certain disorders have been shown to have greater success with particular techniques. Dr. Warrington draws upon my own theoretical orientation which is fundamentally psychodynamic and relational. This means that I conceive of psychological issues from the perspective of gaining insight into patterns of behavior which, while they may have served us in the past, now prevent us from moving on to be the best that we can be. However, the methodology used will vary from patient to patient depending upon the presenting issues. Treatment is tailored to meet the particular needs of the individual in therapy. Sometimes this will require behavior management, sometimes working with the persons thought processes (cognitive therapy), sometimes it involves coming to terms with ones emotions and sometimes it will mean interpreting unconscious motivations. If you have any particular questions relating to methodology please feel free to address them with him during the assessment phase.
Dr. Warrington is a Certified Alcohol and Other Drug Treatment Specialist, a Certified Anger Management Counselor, and a Qualified Medical Evaluator for Worker's Compensation and provide psychological assessment and treatment of injured workers. He would love to talk to you and help you find what you are looking for, even if it is not with him.
